Club History
Mona Vale Commodores has an extensive club history having been operating on the Northern Beaches for over 50 years. The Club was created in 1969 by a group of ladies who wanted to play in a netball competition in Papua New Guinea. The Club was originally known as Commodores Netball Club drawing inspiration for its name from Commodores Heights in West Head. “Mona Vale” was added to the name around 2016 where most of the Club activities are based.
Margaret Whiteman was instrumental in starting the Club for the Papua New Guinea competition. Initially the club was a Senior Club and was opened up to Juniors in the late seventies and early eighties.
Mona Vale Commodores are a friendly and welcoming club and we are able to cater for teams across all age groups – NetSetGo (5-9’s), Juniors (10-15), Cadets (16-18) and Seniors.
We participate in the Manly Warringah Netball Association Winter and Spring competitions. The Winter competition runs for 14 weeks from April until September and teams play at John Fisher Park at Curl Curl on Saturdays. The Spring competition runs for 7 weeks starting in October on a Tuesday afternoon/evening.
We have committed, caring and passionate coaches who capably develop each player’s skills, whilst ensuring that the kids are having fun in a safe and positive environment.
Our Committee are friendly, passionate and hardworking and are committed to ensuring the success of this Club.
In 2021, Mona Vale Commodores launched EmpowerPlay which is a program developed for players aged 9-13 years which increases self-confidence and an awareness of individuals strengths. We will be the first club on the Northern Beaches to run this program and are very excited to be able to run this program for our young players.
